Skills:
I have a wide range of programming skills including ActionScript (v.1.x and v.2.0), JavaScript, (D)HTML,
XML (XSLT), PHP, mySQL, PERL and Coldfusion, all used throughout my career and spare time.
I am very confident that I can pick up any new programming language quickly as I am used to moving into
a job and getting up to speed on new technologies quickly enough to be cost effective. My main expertise
lies in Flash and ActionScript because that is what I enjoy most. I have achieved a very high standard;
allowing me to tackle highly complex and dynamic commercial and educational applications.
Although I am primarily a developer I do have a more artistic side as I have drawn and painted for fun
since I was young (thanks to Dad who is a fantastic watercolour painter who got me interested in it). I
am very much a strange mix, an artistic programmer, I guess that is why i love using Flash so much!
I regularly use a large variety of software to create pictures, graphics and sounds usually to be
integrated into all sorts of applications, websites and presentations. My favourites include Flash,
Photoshop, SoundForge, Multimedia Fusion, Reason and Rebirth, all of which I am an expert at using.
I am also experienced at using the following in a work environment: Illustrator, CorelDraw, Dreamweaver,
CoolEditPro, Bryce, Poser, 3DStudio Max, LipSync, Director, Acrobat, PowerPoint, MS Office (with VB
macro’s and MSXML). I’ll try anything if it gets the job done.
Work Experience:

Lexicon Design UK Ltd.. |
Position: |
Freelance Flash Developer/Designer, UK |
Description: |
Lexicon Design UK Ltd. is my own company who I work under for freelance contracts. (Formally established as a limited company at the beginning of 2005).
I started off in 1999 by delivering projects of various sizes (major projects are listed below) from touching up photography in Photoshop, creating multimedia presentations to creating websites and more complex content management, e-commerce and e-learning systems.
I have specialised in delivering more complex and dynamic Flash based applications (particularly in e-learning), making the most of the latest OOP implementation of ActionScript wherever possible.
In my spare time I am putting together an e-learning package in conjunction with a Lesson Designer and an Illustrator. This is designed primarily to be a portfolio piece, highlighting each of our skills to their best. Our secondary objective is to expand on this in our spare time until we have a product ready to be published. The first module (Roman Britain) has now been written and has received enthusiastic approval from some local school teachers. I am now busy developing the Flash based software and writing a comprehensive library of classes. We are hoping to have the first module finished within a month.

Biscit, Yorkshire |
Freelance Position: |
Flash Designer/Developer |
Description: |
Design and development of a dynamic animation editor and player.
These web-applications were written in Flash 8 (AS2), XML and PHP. The brief was to create an application where golf club owners could create their own animations to show how to complete their golf course best.<.p>
The application works by allowing the user to set up a series of frames which have an editable time variable. The users can then add certain events to these frames:
- Add, remove narration text.
- Hide or display images that the user uploads.
- Add, remove, position and animate various premade elements (such as balls, flags, arrows, hazards etc).
- Draw in realistic ball trajectories that the ball can animate along.
- Draw totally custom freeform shapes (used to highlight areas of interest in any uploaded image).
Details of each animation are saved as XML files via a PHP backend so that the player application can be used as a standalone desktop application or on a website.
